2022 Nominee: Mark Bryant

Mark got his start in the adult industry back in 1996, working as the nation sales manager and video production assistant for the Australian Rosie magazine. He went on to form One Stop Adult Shop with John Lark, himself an Australian Adult Industry Awards (year) Hall of Fame inductee. Mark continues in the industry running the Totally Adult retail outlets.

Mark started in the adult industry with the Australian Rosie magazine, in 1996, working as the nation sales manager and video production assistant. The Rosie magazine was by far Australia’s #1 selling magazine.

Mark then went onto form One Stop Adult Shop with John Lark, himself an Australian Adult Industry Awards (year) Hall of Fame inductee.

One Stop Adult Shop supplied adult stores in Queensland represented the major VHS (yes, VHS) and magazine (yes, magazines) and numerous toy distributors.

By selling adult videos (technically illegal), Mark had to ‘run the gantlet’, resulting in many run-ins with police along the way. Not one to be deterred, Mark persisted and went on to supply most adult stores in Queensland.

With his ever-growing list of industry contacts, Mark considered retail as a natural progression. He formed Totally Adult in 2000, which, at one stage, was the largest retail chain in the state, with 8 stores.

While working with Rosie magazine, Mark worked at the 1997 Sexpo in Melbourne selling Rosie showbags. He then went on to become a major exhibitor in his own right, occupying multiple stands at the each event, right around the country.

Mark doubled up his retail efforts at Sexpo by doing MC work on stage. Mark’s stage name was Buttman; a nickname that has stuck to this day.

Mark, a natural networker, met and managed the number 3 rated pornstar in the world, another Hall of Fame inductee, American Shayla la Vieux. Mark was responsible for Shayla’s several appearances at Sexpo. Under Mark’s management, Shayla’s profile in Australia was improved dramatically, resulting in many store appearance both before and after Sexpo events.

Mark’s enduring friendship with Shayla, and other industry greats, has seen him work on movie productions both here and in the USA. Partnering with Steve Crow, Mark was able to secure nearly all Australian production rights for new release movies from the USA.

Mark continues to influence the industry by sourcing exclusive new products from his contacts in the USA and remains passionate about the industry and the important public service it provides.
